During the 'Nationale Sportweek': 'the National Week of Sport' we inspire every Dutch citizen to enjoy sports and #BeActive! Sporting activities get people moving, connect people and contribute to the development of individuals and our society. We do win a lot with sports.

The Nationale Sportweek is part of the European Week of Sport and will take place on 20-29 September 2019. Being active will not only benefit people’s health and well-being, but also our society and economy in general.

Opening annual sports season

The week starts at the same time as the opening of the annual sports season, right after the summer break. During the Nationale Sportweek lots of sport clubs invite people to come and join playing any kind of sport. Throughout the whole country people can join training sessions, clinics and events. Last year, over 10.000 activities were organized. Together with sports clubs, municipalities and sports federations NOC*NSF celebrates the power of sports. We aim to find a suitable sports club for every individual in the Netherlands.

Next to finding the ideal club, the Nationale Sportweek also focuses on the social value of sports. Sport can enable lonely elderly people to experience moments of togetherness and enjoyable physical activity; it can enable refugees to take part in activities in a spirit of warmth and hospitality; it can help persons with a disability to discover the growing range of activities in the field of sport and exercise in their own neighbourhood; and so on!
